How to delete orphan files with WD SmartWare

Hi,

I have a My Passport Ultra and have about 1TB of files backed up there. It is files I work on daily, so I create new ones and also delete those I no longer need. The question is this:

If I delete a file in the source drive, it does not seem to get deleted in the backup location. So after a while I end up with hundreds of orphan files in my backup location which I do not need and which take up space. How can I confige SmartWare to automatically delete these orphan files. I did not find anything in the help or settings.

Thanks in advanc for you help …

Hello,

Unfortunately WD Smartware does not have the option to delete files that have already been deleted from the computer. If you want to delete this files you can access the Drive manually and delete them from the backup folder. The backup folder on the drive is called “WDsmartware.swstor” and it is located on the root of the Passport Ultra.

Hi,

thanks for your reply. Well this is not an option since I have hundreds of orphan files so to do it manually is really not feasable. MAybe what I need is a Sync programme rather than a backup one.

Cheers
