I have just successfully updated to the 2.2.9 firmware. I have tried the CTorrent application that has been added in this update. I have stopped and deleted the torrents from the tasks. I have tried to delete the files that CTorrent has put into the DOWNLOAD folder on the Sharespace, using Windows Explorer. I get the error that I do not have permission to delete the files. I have tried to logon to the folder from Windows using the DOWNLOADER and ADMIN accounts but I get an error that the folder is already mapped with a different user name and password.
How can I delete the files in the DOWNLOAD folder, either from Windows or the Sharespace Web Interface?
I got a reply back from WD email support. They told me to try to delete the files from a different PC as my Windows 7 PC may have “more restrictions than usual” I could not delete the files from a Windows XP PC either. They also suggested to reset the Sharespace. I reset the Sharespace. When I tried to delete the files, they disappeared as if they had been deleted, but then they appeared again! I can save a file to the DOWNLOAD folder and delete it, so it seems that I have r/w permission to the folder. It seems that even though I have stopped the torrent download and deleted it from the CTorrent Task List, the torrent is still running. Does anybody know how to shut down the CTorrent client? Or does anybody have any other suggestions.
Judging from the hits this is a widespread problem. I have the same issue on a ShareSpace that I just received yesterday, my 3rd replacement unit.
Firmware problems seem to be quite normal with these units. On my last replacement, after messing with it for 2 months, I discovered quite by accident that it had firmware for the 80000 installed on it instead of 40000…go figure. I could not access Ctorrent, FTP or Firmware update but everything else worked fine. WD Support was NO help.
