How to connect Transmission App Dashboard remotely

Hi,

I’ve succeed to install Transmission and can connect it when I’m at home. Is it possible to connect Transmission dashboard remotely? When I’m at home, I connect it over http://WDMYCLOUDIP:9092/

Thanks for your replies.

Hi,

There’s a way to do it by forwarding the Transmission ports but it’s insecure since it doesn’t allow to set a password nor is it supported by Western Digital.

Hi

Isnt it possible to set a free vpn at my home and connect over it?

Use ssh with port forwarding.

Example:
ssh -C -c blowfish -f remotevm -L 9092:localhost:9091 -N

Hi

Sorry. I’m not that much linux expert. Is there any step by step guide?

All keywords are in the previous post. Use search engines.

When you are a windows user, the additional keyword is putty.

Use ssh/putty to login from remote to your router or direct to the nas.
The local port 9092 on the computer you are using is connected to the remote port 9091. Use firefox or any other web browser to access the local port 9092.

remotevm is the name of the computer/router/nas which is from outside reachable on your home network.
9091 is the default web gui port for transmission.
Router or NAS must have ssh and ssh portforwarding enabled.
