How to browse USB drive using WD My cloud and Widows 11

Can someone please help me by providing the steps to be able to browse the USB drive that I have connected to the MY Cloud device. I am in the dashboard and can see the drives they have labeled but when i go into my file explorer I can see the WD drive and all the files and folders on that but not the drives, folders or files that are connected via USB. I wish to be able to drag and drop files on the USB connected drive like i can on my WD My cloud. Thank you in advance.

You may need to make some modifications to Windows 11 if the My Cloud (not My Cloud Home, that is a different device) is not showing up in Windows File Explorer. See the following links for those changes that may need to be made to have a NAS show up properly on Windows 11.

When a USB drive is connected to the My Cloud’s USB port one should be able to access the USB drive by it’s Share name in Windows File Explorer when accessing the My Cloud. Make sure the USB is formatted in a format (generally NTFS, HFS+, or FAT32) supported by the My Cloud.

You’re actually not missing anything obvious in File Explorer, it’s just how the WD My Cloud handles USB drives. By default, USB-connected drives don’t show up as separate drives on your PC, they’re exposed as network shares. In the dashboard, go to Settings and make sure USB access or “USB import/backup” is enabled, then check under Shares for something like “USB1” or “USB2.” On your Windows 11 PC, type \wdmycloud (or its IP address) in File Explorer’s address bar and you should see that USB share there. If you want it to behave more like a normal drive, right-click it and map it as a network drive so you can drag and drop files easily.
