How to access My Could without an Ethernet cable?

Hi!

Our white 4 Tb My Cloud has been years connected to my Hp laptop via an Ethernet cable. We had no wireless modem at that time. Now there is a wireless home web, but the new laptop does not have an Ethernet port. I could buy an adaptor but would not like to have any extra cables connected to the laptop while the laptop will be daily moved around the house.

We have a wireless modem, but I am unsure would My Cloud need to be connected via an Ethernet cable to the wireless modem? Or is there some way to link My Cloud wirelessly to the modem?

Thank you so much for your quidance in this matter!

What is the make and model of what you are calling a “wireless modem”? Are there Ethernet ports on that modem? If so how many? Is the “wireless modem” actually a wireless router?

Generally most ISP’s (broadband providers) provide a wireless router or a wireless router/modem combo which will have up to four Ethernet ports on the unit. Usually on the back of the unit. One would plug the My Cloud directly into one of those Ethernet ports.
