I’m pretty happy with my WD MyBook Live 2T… but I’d like to open it an see what there is inside; how can I do it? I found several video on youtube but all for different models…

Keep in mind opening the drive enclosure will void the warranty immediately.
ops… ok thank I’ll remember…
but there is a way to open it ?! 
the unit I have at office (fortunately not my own) have a white led turned on and it seems there is no way to:
- login using ssh
- no web interface
- there is some ethernet activity (at least the led blink) but no ping at the old ip address (I already made a reset using the back button)
…there is any chance to get it works again without call the assistence? my plan was to mount the disk on a pc and copy the firmware on it using dd… that’d be possibile?

Maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this. You can do so either by phone or email.

thanks… I had a reply: they will change the unit, but without saving data; but I’m sure the data on /dev/sda4 are perfect; that is the reason why I’d (still) like to open the unit, and mount it on a normal pc… sigh
