I recently updated/added music on to the My Cloud which is controlled by my WDTV. Almost 1TB of music on the drive. The WDTV has been updating the Media Library for DAYS, (LED flashing). Is this normal?? Seems like a very long time. I could have transferred all the music to a new drive in less time.
You can disable indexing within your WDTV to prevent this from happening. The first time will usually take some time, and this is further affected by your network. If you access the content via Network Shares then your music files should already be available.
Is indexing different than Media Library?? I don’t remember seeing an option for indexing? I do access the drive via Network Share. Should I delete the Media Library as well as disabling it?
Indexing is the process that consolidates the media library. Disabling the media library will disable indexing, no need to delete anything.
You can access Network Shares by changing the content source when searching for your files.

Hello. How do you ‘disable the media library?’
Under Settings>System>Media Library there is an option to turn on or off.
Thank you. I selected ‘turn media library off’ but it didn’t do a thing, the whole media library was still there unchanged! Immediately beneath that ‘turn off’ option is another: ‘clear media library.’ So next I tried turning that off. It said “are you sure, it may take a while for the media library to rebuild.” But WOW, even after that, still no change, the media library is still there unchanged! At a loss to know what else, I will now turn off sharing at source (in Windows) and see. If that doesn’t work I can raise a Ticket or start a new topic. Either way I must get off TAMonti’s topic.
