Sorry if this has already been asked a bunch of times, but I started the upgrade process on my WD My Cloud 4TB NAS approximately 22 hours ago. I watched the “percentage complete” modal, followed by another before it rebooted. For a little while, I could log in via the admin portal using its IP address; however, that ability went away after a few hours. I’ve completely lost the ability to mount any volumes to my desktop, or even map the drive – it’s like it’s disappeared. The blue light continues to flutter, so I’m going to assume it’s indexing.
How long should I expect this to take? I’m using 3 of the 4 TB on the drive.
Lots of past complaints in these subforums about the indexing taking a very long time. So many complaints that WD has to put out a couple of knowledge base articles on indexing. The bottom line is it will take as long as it takes. One can try to help speed things along by disabling cloud access/remote access in the My Cloud Dashboard > Settings along with disable any installed apps in the My Cloud Dashboard > Apps tab, in particular disable or stop Twonky if that App is installed.
Thanks for sending these over. Unfortunately, I can’t even get to the dashboard. I ran an IP scanner and can see it on my network; however, trying to hit the admin page via a browser isn’t working.
Bump up for an update. It’s been nearly three days since I started the update process. Since the device rebooted, its dashboard accessibility via IP address has gone away, and none of the shares on the device are mountable. When I ping the IP address, I get a response, so I know its network controller is working. The only way I have of knowing that something is going on is the rapidly blinking blue light.
Has anyone else had this issue? I think it may be indexing, but it seems like this is an awfully long time for it to be inaccessible to connections. Thoughts?
Have you used the forum search feature (magnifying glass icon upper right) to search the OS5 subforums to find the various other past discussions? One example search:
I’ve come across several posts that are somewhat similar but different enough that I don’t believe their issues reflect my own. The color of the LED is blue, so that’s a positive sign, I suppose.
