How long is normal for my drive to mount?

My MyBood 3TB almost always takes at least 2 minutes to mount on my Mac, and can often take up to 5 minutes to finally mount. When I first plug it in, I can hear it spinning, but it is painfully slow mounting. My Mac also often shows it still mounted on my computer even if I unplug it, and I have to force eject it. Is there an issue with my drive? I’ve had it for about a year and it’s always been like this but I assumed it was normal because it’s not an SSD.
