How long does it take to run a Complete Drive Test?

Hi!
I just bought a My Passport HDD 1TB. The first thing I did was run a Complete Drive Test using WD Drive Utilities. The progress has been stuck at 90% for over 8 hours, and the drive’s surface feels really hot during that time until I click cancel.

Have you ever run a Complete Drive Test on a new HDD? How long does it usually take for a normal drive?
From what I know, if an HDD has bad sectors, it will take longer than “normal”.

Weird, right? I’ve run complete tests before, but 8+ hours stuck at 90% seems off. Maybe bad sectors or just the test struggling?

Did you check the SMART data for any warnings?

Yah, I have the same question.

I used Hard Disk Sentinel, and it says my drive’s health is 100%.
I don’t understand the information shown in the SMART tab.

A Complete Drive Test on a healthy HDD usually takes a few hours, but getting stuck at 90% for 8+ hours is not normal. It could indicate bad sectors or firmware issues. Try running CHKDSK (Windows) or smartctl -t long /dev/sdX (Linux/Mac) to check for errors. If issues persist, consider exchanging the drive, as new HDDs shouldn’t struggle with surface scans.
