On older models. Date of Manfucture and S/N and such details were just on the outside label. Where do I find this information on these two?

I don’t know about your drive, but the serial number of 3.5” drives is on the cover label and on a second label on the short edge of the casting.
You can test your S/N at WD’s warranty checker. The warranty is calculated on the basis of the manufacture date plus X years plus 1 month (?).

CrystalDiskInfo can also read the serial number from the disk which is stored in the IDENT tables
