How do I clone an old, failing WD1002F*** to a new WD1003F***?

I have an ancient, venerable, and failing 1TB WD1002FAEX that I want to clone to a new, fresh-out-of-the-box WD1003FZEX drive. I remember that at one time there were cloning utilities that would clone one drive to another, if the new drive was the boot drive (i.e., booting from the manufacturer’s MBR). It’s been a long time since I needed that facility; perhaps it was a Seagate feature. Regardless, is there some sort of WD utility or procedure that will afford me that same capability?

Hello,

I recommend you try Acronis True Image WD Edition. Take a look at the links below for more information. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the pointers, Hamlet! It’s taken a while, but I’ve got the replacement drive in and in use. I’ve never encountered quite such a bare drive; at least I didn’t have to access the drive bios to hardware format the drive.
