I have set up RAID 1 on my G RAID drive with Thunderbolt 3 but I am unable to view the 2 drives separately in Finder or Disk Utility to check their contents so I have no way of checking that it is working correctly. Am I missing something?
You are not missing something. That is how RAID1 works. The fact that you only see one drive and it is half capacity means it is working as intended. You can only verify the content is on both drives if you cause the RAID to fail or remove a drive from the enclosure and try them individually. But then you’ll have to recreate the RAID over again.
