How do i actually back up my computer

i have WD passport and PC w/windows VISTA.  the passport has been attached to the computer for about a year but it has been so long since i backed it up, i can’t remember what to do.

also i looked thru my passport drive and the only files i find backed up are my itunes library (over and over and over),  how do i back up my documents, programs and other stuff?

Are you using Smartware? It only backs up certain file types. I didn’t like it and uninstalled it. I’d look at some other software depending on what you want to backup.

Use the latest virsion of WD Smartware, it has capability to backup all files (except system files).

Or

you can use Windows Backup and Restore to complete backup of system.
