The lack of Wake-On-Lan on the single bay My Cloud has been discussed in the past. Currently the NIC networking port (the hardware) on the My Cloud (at least first gen My Clouds) do not support Wake-On-Lan. See the following threads for more discussion on the subject.
The single bay My Cloud and the My Cloud Mirror are two different devices with different features and possibly different hardware. Supposedly, if this post is correct , the Mirror doesn’t support Wake-On-Lan, but the EX2 does. Per that thread (in a following post ) the Mirror can be “woken up” somehow.
Obviously when the single bay My Cloud is shut down it still draws power as the back LAN port is still active. Does this mean there is some way to wake the unit up after triggering/issuing the shu…
Hi, I have just purchased a 3TB WD MyCloud drive. Everything working fine, but I was just wondering if there is a way to remotely start it up and shut it down using an iPad app? I know it can be done using the dashboard software on my Windows pc, but I very rarely use this and don’t want to have to boot my laptop up every time I want to shut my NAS down. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
What is the difference between 4.x and 2.x series FW? Why does one MyCloud run 4.x and another run 2.x??
I have a My Cloud I have been using fine for a couple of years. It is attached via Ethernet to my router and the light on the router for that Ethernet cable is solid green. Where the Ethernet plugs into the back of the My Cloud is a blinking green.
However, the light on the front of the My Cloud is yellow - it will blink when I plug the Ethernet into it (once) and then blinks once every 60-65 seconds. It has been this way for a couple of months. After reading many topics on this board I am stil…
Sorry wptski to quote you but you made me think.
When I was younger, I created turn key systems that had no buttons except the power button that turned the system on or off. I used debian and copied the OS to a ram disk on boot up to prevent OS write corruption. It was a company that provided service that played background music for large stores.
The player was built using old computers with old hard drives so as long as the system booted up with a quick fsck, the system was good to go. It d…
Having shut my cloud down last night (all proper, like…), I’m rebooting it bringing back from shutdown. Light was a bit odd: solid white for a while, now flashing. No response from Dashboard or SSH yet.
Guess I’ll just have to wait… I rarely shut my clouds down, so I’ve not seen this before. Now I see why it causes such frustration… Shall I take bets on how long before it comes to life…?
I am soon going to place my WD MyCloud device in an area where there can be power outages often.
Will hook this up with a SmartUPS anyway, but I would like to know what method(s) are available to trigger a shutdown of MyCloud when the power is out and the UPS reaches low battery.
When the power is back on, it needs to be stated up again. I know the it will automatically start-up when voltage appears on the adapter’s output after an outage but is there any other way to power on this device whi…
There is no physical power button on the drive so how do you power it back up after shutting it down through the console? Do you have to physically unplug it and plug it back in?
