How can I install Minidlna on My Cloud?

Hello guys,

Becaseu of subtitles, I’d like to intall minidlna on MY CLOUD.

I haven’t found out the way to install it on MY CLOUD through GOOGLE, but I found the way to install it on MY BOOK LIVE. So I tried it like below.

  1. apt-get update

  2. apt-get install libsqlite3-dev libjpeg62-dev libexif-dev libogg-dev libid3tag0-dev libvorbis-dev libavutil-dev libflac-dev libavformat-dev libavcodec-dev make

  3. apt-get install minidlna

However, I couldn’t pass second one because I faced error messages below.

Does any one have ideas to solve this problem?

Does any one sucessfully installed minidlna on MY CLOUD?

Please be aware this is not supported by Western Digital and could void your warranty.

What kind of client needs a dlna server for separate subtitles files? a tv set?

Yes, SMI or SRT subtitles for my LG TV.

Now it maked sense… Twonky seems to have problem with separate srt files. 

Did you try to merge video files and srt in mkv using mkvmerge¿

It will not reencode the files it will simply put them in a mkv container. 

Check it,  it will take maybe 1minute to process a 4-8gb video file with added subs. 

I use to put all my video files on mkv i don’t like to have sub files separate anyway.

Merge? People outside USA watch TV serieses with SRT subtitles, 5-6 everyday. I think he didnt buy My Cloud to merge every MKV to watch them :slight_smile:

I live in Europe and I watch tv series almost each day.

Hopefully I don’t have a LG smart tv with this problem with twonky.

I simply prefer to don’t have small files in between huge files.

I use to watch movies who have multiple audio/sub tracks, mkv is a very convenient container.

I know Twonky has a problem with external subtitles, that’s why I’d like to intall minidlna.

And merge them is not a acceptable option.

I hope to install minidlna successfully and My Cloud works well with external subtitles like what My Book Live does.

Actually, the best one is that Twonky supports external subtitles.hehe
