How can I get my files off the Book Live Duo?

So I guess there is no solution to my previous question as to how I can add or modify my drive via Windows.
So how can I retrieve the files off the Book Live Duo? Is it safe to just remove the individual drives and clone them or something? Can I plug them in directly to my computer and try from there?
