Depends on hardware n what ur tv is capable of. 5.1 setup, is it a custom system or htib(home theatre in a box). Does it tv have optical out? How are u currently setup for 5.1 for your tv and gaming systems?

The only other way, if you cant use HDMI … is to use a Toslink Optical Cable connected from your WD Player to a Amplifier / AV Reciever. (with attached… 2 front speakers, 2 rears speakers, 1 center speaker + subwoofer)
Then in Setup > Audio/Video > Audio Output > Digital Pass-Through via Optical Only

If you already own an an Amplifier, and there is no Optical Audio input (only an Orange Coaxial Input) … you can purchase and Optical Audio to Coaxial Audio Converter. (Not expensive,but shop-around)
