I presently have a MyBookLiveDual which is filling up. I use a Raid 1, so the capacity is cut in half. I do not know much about Raid 0, 1, 5, etc. I do know Raid 1 and above is redundant which is what I like, safe. So what advantage is an EX4 over an EX2. Why not a MyCloud Mirror? I want performance and safety. It is only to store personal docs, images, videos, etc. I am not a business. Can anyone give me guidance please? Maybe an article that explains it all. Can the EX4 operate as 2 Raid 2s? If I populate all 4 bays, does this cut capacity, so a 8 TB EX4 in Raid 1 gets cut to 2 Tb?

It all depends on what you need. Since you said that is only to store docs, images, videos, etc. The Mirror and the EX2 should work great for you. Unless, you need something with a bigger capacity.
You can create two separate RAID 1’s on the EX4. For example, if you have 4, 8 TB drives, and you create two RAID 1, they will show as two 8 TB RAID’s. the total space will be around 16 TB.
