Help needed...ISO compatible

cool, thanks

and hey if anyone is looking i found the dvdfab team are also doing this program

http://www.dvdfab.com/blu-ray-ripper.htm

all in one, decodes blu ray and converts to MKV file.

sorry another question, i was just about to order the wd tv live from new egg and reviews are saying it can not play compressed audio for MKV files? can you please give details on going around this? and if so will it still support surround sound? (lol like i said i have never done this before)

@techflaws: I guess you are talking DVD iso

Of course I do cause that’s what the original poster asked about.

Of course the LIVE handles compressed audio cause pretty much ANY audio out there is compressed. Those newegg guys probably refer to the audio header compression issue discussed to death on this forum.

That’ll get you there, but I STRONGLY recommend you use one of the NIGHTLY builds which are MUCH better and further along in development than the old 0.9.4 which is almost a year old:

… the best part is that they’re (finally) adding better Blu-ray support natively!

Me think me will go have a look at another nightly (the one I use now is getting pretty old too, but it has  indeed been stable).

ok i have a WD elements 1 TB se extrenal hard drive can anyone confirm this is compatable with wd tv live? oh and thank you guys very much for your help.

Well, depending on the exact part number, WDC confirms it:

ahh yeah there it is the WDBAAU, thanks

You might want to repartition and format it before using it, though.

I have 2 WDElements 1.5 TB drives and 1 WDElements 2.0 TB drive.  All three units work great with the Live.  Like bill_s said, you’ll need to repartition and format it before you use it and it will then work.

ok will do, thanks

one more thing my 50inch plasma is 1080i…(not 1080p)…will the WD live tv support that?

Absolutely.

cool, hey until i get a 1080p tv how much diff will i see with blu-ray movies in a 1080i mkv files? will i notice the quality loss?

I don’t think I can answer that, as “Quality” is subjective.   You may not notice it.

When I set my TV to 1080i (it can do 1080p) I can notice a slight interlacing artifact, particularly in rapid motion scenes, but it’s easily “dismissed” and you get used to it quickly.

If you’ve never seen 1080p, you won’t be missing it yet, but once you have it, you won’t want to go back.  :)

In addition to Tony’s good observation let’s say this – if you could do side by side comparisions you could pick out the differences easily, but without doing that even A/B testing is sometimes difficult.  It’s always best to aim to achieve the highest possible settings and after a while you’ll get so used to it that if/when you ever see a lower setting you will *definitely* notice the loss (of course, this isn’t always a good thing – I thought my component picture on my high end Sony tube TV was superb – until I got my Sammy 55’ LED.  Now I can barely watch my Sony).

lol well my 1080i 50 inch philips plasma gives a very nice pic on my blu-rays (makes it hard to watch dvds after that)

but january 2011 i’ll pick up my 1080p plasma…maybe a panasonic V20… cough cough plasma better for movies than LED

You’re right, but my utility budget thanks me for buying an LED/LCD.   My 50" plasma consumes 450 to 600w.   My 55" LED consumes 120-180w.

my wd live should arrive soon with my blu-ray drive and just wandering if anyone knows is this graphics card

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127412 can handle a blu ray pic? thanks

lol nevermind

lol newegg says the WD TV Live plays up to 1080p but down where it says HDMI connection its says up to 1080i…?
