Help! My Book Live 3TB won't show "steady blue light"

It was fine two days ago, and now won’t show on the network. It doesnt have any USB, just the eathernet cable.

Do I understand correctly that the drive does not appear on the network, and that it shows a steady blue light?

This suggests that it is staying in Standby mode for some reason. Something to check would be your ethernet cable and the connections. Also, are you using WD Quick View? Can you use it, or a direct IP address to get to the browser control panel for the MBL?

If the above don’t work, see if the drive is showing a light at the network connection. If not, I suggest you do a reset with the recessed button on the back of the housing. You will need to insert a straightened paper clip into the opening and hold it down for 15-20 seconds. The drive should reboot. This takes about 3 minutes. When it comes back up, the access will be reset to user “admin”, and password “admin”. IP address will be set to DHCP (auto). Your data will not be affected by this reset.

If the drive does not respond as expected to the reset, you should contact WD Support.

Thanks for the replay, I’ve trked that and nothing. the light is stady blue and change quick to white for 1 sec and them blue again… But I will talk tomorrow.

Is the brief change to white light happening when you press the Reset? Is it switching back to blue while you are still holding the Reset switch down?

One bit of info I’ve seen: the manual may be wrong concerning the length of time to hold down the Reset. I think the manual says something like 3-5 seconds. A note I ran across in the Knowledge Base said that it should be held for something like 20 seconds. That seems kind of like over kill once the box restarts, but I did see something to that effect.
