My 1TB My Passport is no longer visible or accessible on my Mac. I have tried:

  • changing computers
  • changing micro USB adaptors
  • switching the hard drive cable, but nothing has helped.

I downloaded WD Drive Utilities & that is the only place it becomes visible. I ran the Drive status check and quick drive test, which both passed. The complete drive test fails. When I run the complete drive test, the drive then also becomes visible in disk utility. Here it is unmounted but will not mount and first aid will not complete also.

I am a YouTuber and the data on this device is extremely important, so needs to be recovered. Can anyone help? :crossed_fingers: :crossed_fingers: :crossed_fingers:

Perhaps the drive is having logical corruption and not a physical one. If that is true then data is still present on the drive but not accessible to you. I recommend you try this method. Download this free application and check if your unmounted external hard drive is visible or ready for scan.

If the software can’t find the drive then I am afraid you might have to refer to a data recovery service centre.
