Help! getting ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED when trying to access OS5 Web Interface

I’ve been using IOS 5 now for quite some time. I’m using a MyCloud Ultra

Today I tried to log into the admin console to see the progress on the indexing (it has been running for weeks - its at 70% complete)

I get an error: ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED. I also got a warning email that the device free space was up to 95% full. I’ve deleted about 300 GB of files - so it should be well below 80% free. Does the web interface die when the space is only 5% free (This is a 4 TB usable space configuration)?

I can’t reboot the device since it will restart indexing (poor design) and take another three weeks to get to 70% complete.

I can access all the files in the filesystem via Windows - I can ping the device OK - I just can’t get to the web console to see the progress in indexing.

Anyone have any ideas? I have SSH enabled - so if there is a command to restart the web interface - that’s what I am looking for.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That’s because they messed up and changed the https port. Clean your history or edit your bookmark and try accessing it using http. You will be redirected you the right place.

Actually that couldn’t be the issue this time - I noticed after upgrading, when I typed in my local name for the device, http://levinsong-wd it would redirect to a awfully long URL like device-local-539130a9-xxxx-4f5f-bd20-d0d1ab7c6c60.remotewd.com instead and the port number would be appended to the end (It looks like WD decided to force everyone to go through their DNS to access locally your own device) Now - when I type in my device name - it doesn’t even do a redirect - something else is wrong. I just tried it again and the redirect seems to be working now. Thanks for your help!

@originaldiode Rebooting the device won’t starting indexing over again, it will resume indexing.
Please refer to the below KBAs

please help: after updating the version to Version: Firmware Release 5.06.115 (11/20/2020), access to the web Configurator (Web Interface) was lost. I don’t get to enter the password an error occurs: Access is denied, HTTP ERROR 403

@htb
Is this true even if I am updating the firmware? Does WDC migrate the index to the new firmware or does it just delete and start over? My system has been indexing for 6 weeks now and it as at 70% - and now there’s a new firmware 5.06.115 (I’m currently on 5.05.111). It has ALWAYS started over, since the index progress has been displayed, everytime I rebooted, plus support staff has advised me several times NOT to reboot otherwise it will restart. I understand you have KB’s but they are still inconsistent with your support staff. Please advise - I’d like to be on the current firmware - but not if it will start over - at this rate (and it is at 70% indexed now) and i still have no idea how much longer this will take. It would be GREAT if there was a dedicated force index command either in the UI or in ssh - i.e. stop all existing services and have the device dedicate 100% of all its CPU’s and IO to indexing - to get it completed.

Same Here… EX4100 wont accept Web IP Anymore. AFP, and SMB works fine…

Same here, Me too unable to access web interface post firmware upgrade 5.06.115. Let me know if you get any fix for the same… Is there any way to contact wd team in this regard? If yes, kindly bring this error to their notice.

@thedave, @yogeshwar.manthheina I solved the problem by changing the ip address device. Change your ip to 172.16.x.x or 192.168.x.x

Configured ip. It worked! Thank you Dpetrikov :blush:

use http instead of https I used it and it works fine - make sure you use your local device name - the redirection to https works great.
