What is the HDMI connector on the G-Raid TB3 for and how to you use it? Does it mirror or extend the computer display?

It is so you can essentially daisy chain a display from the drive. Just like how Thunderbolt 1 & 2 worked.

What he said, but let me add that it doesn’t really work… OK, that’s a little overboard, it does work, but under PERFECT CIRCUMSTANCES. I mean, if you look at it wrong, it won’t work.
