HDMI Audio Suddenly Stopped Working

I have a WD Live Hub Media Center that is running Firmware 2.08.13

It is connected to a Sony KDL55EX723 via a HDMI cable.

I have been watching .mkv files on it for the last 6 months or so  - everything was fine until today - when I cannot get any audio.

I also tried some .avi files but again no sound.

I tried an ISO file  - this time I got sound - when I muted the WD - the sound muted - when I “unmuted” - the sound remained off. Only restarting the ISO file restored the sound. (Not sure if this is relevant - but I am assuming this shows the cable is working)

Not sure if the firmware update is responsible for “breaking” the audio - as I cannot recall when the update took place.

Can anyone help me with this???

Thanks

Maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this. You can do so either by phone or email.

Capers,

Were you able to fix the problem ?

I have similar issue after update to firmware 3.00.28 on WDTVLIVE Hub.

I posted my question here:

Thank you.

Hi Zman789,

Yes I was able to fix my unit by using the reset button.

Good luck - I know how frustrating this can be!!!
