HDD shows .cm0013 file

A friend of mine used my HDD to watch movies on a TV. Now whenever i connect my HDD to computer or a laptop, it indicates the data being present on the HDD but doesnt show any. There is only a .cm0013 file on HDD now. What to do ?

It is possible the partition is corrupted and that’s why the data cannot be seen. You will have to format the drive in order to use it again. However, formatting the drive will delete all data stored on it.

It may be possible to still extract the data utilizing data recovery software. There are several kinds of Data Recovery software available. If you do a  web search for  Data Recovery  it will yield plenty of data recovery software options.

It does sound like the drive is corrupt. Besides the recovery software sometimes a drive can be accessed by booting from a Linux Live CD. Some recovery software may also repair the damaged partition.
