HD problem

Hi,

I have one 2 TB WD external HD that is connected to one HP notebook and this HD has been used for around 1 year. In these 2 days, I just could not see its contents from the notebook while I can still see such HD is “D” drive that is with 271 GB space. If I shut down the machine and then restart it, then I can see the HD’s contents. What is the problem?

Here is what I can see on it.

Many Thanks & Best Regards,

Hello,

Have you try connecting the drive into another computer? How about a different USB cable?

The question is: why does this issue just sometimes happen?

Try going into Device Manager and delete the driver for the drive disconnect it and reboot then reconnect the drive. That should load a fresh driver. If the driver got corrupt it can do strange things.

Joe

Thanks a lot to you all.

Joe,

Where is Device manager in Win 7? How to also resolve this against that WD external HD?

Dear all,
Any help to this?

could be bad sectors, time to backup all your stuff before drive stops getting recognized for good

Thanks HDDRS.

But I do not get any bad sectors reported on the check report. Please advise
