Do not need all the software on this as want to use as external storage device…Have a larger HD ext. for backups…this would be a portable device to use when on the road with my laptop. Checked properties on all dives they say format is NTSF…how do I remove unneeded software from my passport without harming it?

You can follow standard procedure like if you were deleting a file from your computer.
Just open the Passport and remove the application that you are not going to use and don’t install that on your computer.
