Check Disk Management to see if it’s missing a drive letter or showing as RAW. Right-click Start, choose Disk Management, and look at how the drive is listed. If it says “Healthy” but has no letter, right-click it and assign one. If it shows as RAW, the file system is likely corrupted and Windows can’t read it. In that case, avoid formatting right away if you need the data. Try running chkdsk X: /f (replace X with the drive letter) from Command Prompt as admin. If it still won’t mount and the data matters, then a recovery tool like Stellar Data Recovery can help pull files off before you reformat.
