I couldn’t get my computer to recognize my hard drive this morning, so I removed it from its Cavalry container and hooked it up directly to my computer with a SATA/IDE cable. When I plugged it in, I noticed immediately that the disk would start spinning for a couple of seconds, stop for a split second, then spin again for a couple of seconds, etc., like it was trying to spin but couldn’t get past something and kept resetting. Is my hard drive dead?
Have you tried to use the drive on a different system?
Try different cables.
