A friend used his 1TB Passport drive to copy one file to my computer, and now I have this WD UNLOCK cd drive permanently stuck on my windows xp computer. I do not want to simply HIDE it by downloading more of your so-called “SMARTWARE,” I want this GONE FOR GOOD. I don’t own any Western Digital products so why am I being forced to keep your software on my computer??? This is a downright devious marketing gimmick.
That software only mounts if the drive is connected to the computer. Once the drive is removed than it will unmount.
It mounts as a virtual cd drive to provide the ability to unlock the drive.
The minute the drive is disconnected that utility will disappear from your computer.
There’s no need to download anything.
