G-Tech USB ports VERY unstable

I bought two “G-Technology 4TB G-DRIVE ev RaW USB 3.1 Gen 1 Hard Drive with Rugged Bumper” hard drives and BOTH of them will only light up and connect if you wiggle the USB port just right.

Then when it does light up and connect, even the slightest movement will cause them to disconnect from the MacBook Pro.

I used to be such a fan of G-tech, but these drives are useless like this. It sounds to me like there’s something wrong with these USB ports. Could it b something else???

In your situation it would indeed be a connection on the port that is the issue. We would suggest sending them back to the place of purchase for replacement units.
