Does the G-Speed Studio XL require drives that have TDLR enabled? How would the array react to a desktop class hard drive in the event a bad block is found on a disk without TDLR enabled? I’d like to install 8TB drives in my array but do not need Ultrastars installed and would rather install less expensive drives as long as the controller can handle it. Thanks!
The controller can handle just about any drive. We only support HGST Ultrastar drives but it should work with any drive.
I have the same issue with one of my hard drives HGST is dead and I want to put WD Gold 8TB 7200 RPM, will it be fine? will it work fine with the others ?
You’re supposed to make sure the drive matches the rest of the drives. If you want to change drives then you do a full swap for the entire system.
