G-SAFE replacement drives

I have a 2010 G-SAFE 2TB drive (model G-SF3 2000), which still works fine. But I assume its shelf life may be limited, as it’s pretty old. I noticed that the replacement drives sold by G-Technology, such as this (G-TECH 0G00062 G-Tech G-SAFE 2 TB Hot-swap hard drive Serial ATA-300 7200) are no longer available. Would a G-Speed drive work instead?

Tim,

The tray used for G-SPEED and G-SAFE were not compatible but the drives inside would be. The largest capacity the G-SAFE will support is 2TB per drive. So as long as you stick with that capacity you should be fine.

Any 2TB HGST drive would work well, you don’t need to get a G-Speed replacement.
