Hello! I just got a G-Raid 2 with Thunderbolt. I am trying to convert it from the default raid 0 to raid 1, but I can’t find the G-Raid with Thunderbolt Configurator software to download and I don’t seem to be able to use Disk Utility to do it either.
The G-RAID is a RAID 0 only device. G-RAID is set in a hardware RAID 0 for high performance and capacity. The G-RAID is not recommended for use as a backup drive due to that RAID 0 does not provide any form of redundancy.
Thanks for the response. However, if the drive is only meant for RAID 0 then someone should update all the product details at retailers and even Western Digital’s own online store, because it prominently features, “For maximum performance, G-RAID 2 comes ready to go in RAID 0 and can be configured to RAID 1 (mirroring) or JBOD for ultimate flexibility.”
Also, clearly it used to support configuring to RAID 1 using the Configurator software based on past posts and articles, but Western Digital no longer has the software available for download.
Is there anyone who happens to still have the Configurator software that they could share? In another post from earlier this year, someone posted a Dropbox link with the latest Configurator version, but the link is now longer valid. =(
Would LOVE to get “G-Raid with Thunderbolt Configurator software” to troubleshoot one of my 18x GRAID drives! (documentary filmmaker) Unfortunately @Keerti_01 the link you shared may not be secure or there are security certificate issues (see attached). Any thoughts on how to safely proceed and get this desperately needed software?
That ■■■■■ is WRONG and I am running in a RAID 1 configuration and have done so for years. WD/G-Tech support is embarrassingly bad. Absolutely, useless.
Found this thread via Google and wanted to chime in that I found the download on Western Digital’s product support page here, in case anyone needs it in the future:
