G raid 8T New, just configured Raid1 "Not recognized" on MacBook pro

I followed the instructions for RAID conversion using the Firewire connection (the fastest for this 2009 build). The result was the message: “The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer.” (Note: when I powered up the drive, the light flashed red briefly, then went white. Don’t know if this is relevant or not.) I then used the USB 3.0 connector and hooked it up to my Macbook, which has a 3.0 port. I used the disk config utility again (whilst the drive did not show up on the Mac Disk Utility it did show up on the G-RAID with Thunderbolt Configurator). I formatted to Raid 0 and then formatted again to Raid 1 and this time immediately clicked initialise when I got the error message. I then saw the drive in Mac Disk Utility, clicked erase and was able to format the drive. All seems to be good now…
