G-Drive USB-C 5400 rpm - what drive is inside?

Hi,

The G-Drive USB-C drives are rated as 5400 rpm. That appeals to me because 5400 rpm drives tend to produce significantly less noise and heat than 7200 rpm drives. However, I’m wary of purchasing one because I’m unaware of 8 TB or 10 TB HGST He drives that operate at 5400 instead of 7200 rpm. What drives are inside the 8 TB and 10 TB USB-C units?

I suspect they contain WD Red. Is that correct?

It is indeed a WD drive in the 5400 rpm units.
