G-DRIVE mobile SSD R-Series

Hi, i’d like to know if the G-DRIVE mobile SSD R-Series is using MLC or TLC memory and has TRIM support and Hardware encryption.

Best regards

The drive inside is using the Sandisk x600 media. x600 3D NAND

It does not have hardware encryption but can be used easily with FileVault (Mac OS)

Hi, Rydia, thanks for the answer.
So no hardware encryption but there should be no problem using bitlocker right?
And what about TRIM support?

TRIM is available but it is disabled on the OS level by default in the Mac OS.

And In Windows OS?

TRIM is also not enabled by default in Windows, it needs to be turned on via the registry. You’ll need to look into that separate from our forums however.

Hi Rydia,

I’ve been looking for ways to enable TRIM in windows. Couldn’t find anything. Would you mind pointing me to where I can do this via the registry? Thanks

In an elevated command prompt:

fsutil behavior set DisableDeleteNotify 0
or
fsutil behavior set disabledeletenotify NTFS 0

My G-Drive SSD R-Series is used as an external drive for storage (windows 10 does not boot from it). I have enabled trim in cmd. However after doing a test with trimcheck0.7 the result returned negative for the G-Drive…

Any ideas? I suspect TRIM does not work in windows 10 unless the SSD is the windows boot drive.

It is possible the controller blocks the proper readings from such a test.
