WD PLEASE, we need to be able to implement a secure form of FTP so we can access our drives from outside our local LAN. This is an advertised capability of the product, you need to fix this ASAP.
I got another email from WD about 4 days ago…still pretty much a non-answer answer: “We are still looking into the inconvenience that has been encountered with FTP. Please allow us more time for us to provide a proper solution, once guaranteed, in a future update.”
My personal assessment - be ready to expect another 2-3 months of wait until a fix is ready.
