FTP Port Assignments for ShareSpace

I have tried to change the default ports for FTP from 21 to something in the range allowed by the ShareSpace and no assignment other than the default will allow access but port 21.

Naturally, the port selected in the configuration screen is set in the router to be port forwarded to the LAN side IP address.  Anyone have any luck with this feature?

I want to use a different port than the standard 21 to add an additional layer of security accessing the drive.

Please advise as appropriate.

The best way to do this is to set up your forwarding so it points to port 21 from a different port. This will allow you to have the added security of another port, while maintaining use of port 21 locally.
