Free up space on My Book by reducing saved file versions?

I reduced my saved file versions from 5 to 3. Will that action automatically free up space on my WD My Book?

No. Files already copied by means of WD SmartWare or WD Backup will not be deleted.

Reducing the total number of copies will take effect once the limit is reach and the oldest copy will be erased.
