Help guys!! When I connect my western digital My Book Essential to my acer computer I can’t access it, as it asks from me that “I need to format the disc in drive @@ before I can use it”. Can I do something to avoid losing all my files?? Thx

I would suggest canceling the auto-play once it pops up and cancel the format. Download Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows and check the drives SMART status. Please scan the drives consistency by using the extended scan. You can also try to plug the drive to another USB slot. If you are still encountering the error, please try another computer and check if you can access the drive.
