Format Allocation Unit Size to 64K

I’m not sure if there is a thread about this already, but through my searching I found nothing of the same. I just picked up the “WD My Passport Portable Drive (1TB)” and I want to quick format the allocation unit size to 64K. I noticed that there are several folders already on the drive containing the WD Hard Drive software, security, etc. Would I be able to just copy these files to a separate folder on my desktop, reformat the allocation size and then recopy the files back to the drive without any ill effects?

Your inpur is much appreciated.
