Flashing purple LED, can't connect

I have a WD MyCloud that used to work no problem. However, I have left my MyCloud unconnected to any device for around a year now. I’m trying to back up the files I have to another hard drive but cannot connect to my drive now. All I have is a flashing purple LED. I’ve tried plugging my drive into my router via USB and Ethernet. I’ve attempted plugging my drive in to my laptop via USB.

Can anyone tell me what the flashing purple LED means? For reference, I’ve attempted to connect to the drive on Windows 10 as well as Android. I cannot find any WD IP address on my network to directly connect to. There are also no LEDs on the rear port when I try to connect via ethernet.

Are you sure you have a 1st generation WDMYCLOUD? (OS3)

If you own a 1st generation WDMYCLOUD have you set it up for use on your home network? If you have it properly connected as shown in the User Manual try \\WDMYCLOUD.

Do you have a My Cloud or My Cloud Home device? They are not the same.

You cannot use the USB port to connect the My Cloud to another computer or router. You use the Ethernet port on the My Cloud to connect to a router or directly to a computer’s ethernet port. The My Cloud is a network attached storage device not a USB external hard drive.

With the My Cloud directly connected to the router using an ethernet cable, check the router’s administration page to see if the My Cloud has obtained an IP address from the router.

Troubleshooting steps. Try a different ethernet network cable. Try a different network port on the router. Perform a 4 second and or 40 second reset.

Pin Reset and System Only Restore WD My Cloud OS 3
