Flac output always is PCM

Hey!

Im trying to stream flac audio to my receiver without convertions.

My receiver is set to direct mode, and still its always PCM.

Using 96k riped flacs from vynil, my receiver is able to show on OSD DIRECT 96k but still PCM indicator is enabled…

When playing movies i can stream DTS dolby or hdts without any problem.

Is there a way to change that? i dont want WDTV to try to convert or decode anything. Is it even possible to stream flacs not as pcm?

Thanks !!

So your receiver supports FLAC decode? Ive never heard of one.

Sorry to disagree, but many of the modern networked AV amps/receivers have on-board DACs that can handle FLAC files.  Just look at the Yamaha or Onkyo ranges for example.

    • *No, that’s only when they have access to the FILES. ANYthing can do that. The OP is talking about streaming FLAC from the WD via HDMI passthru.
