Greetings,
So I just “setup” my WD Mycloud 3tb drive. Let me just say it was simple to a degree. Anyways I followed the online set up instructions. I donwloaded a lot of apps for my Mac which I am not sure are necessary and further the dashboard does not work.
Question which apps do I need?
Can I delete the WDSync app?
Why does the dashboard app not work?
I am in the process of transferring my iTunes library and I have mycloud folder and a shared mycloud folder. Which folder should I use to map to my iTunes?
I know this is a lot but it wasnt very clear upon install/ setup.
It all depends on what you are trying to accomplish.
Yes, if you are not going to use that, you can uninstall the app.[quote=“hauntvictim, post:1, topic:170994”]

Are you trying to access the dashboard using the name of the drive or the drive ip?
You don’t need any apps at all if all you want to do is use the device as a file server and media server. If you want to use it to back up or synchronise devices to it, you can use WD’s Smartware and Sync apps, or you can use thrid-party apps. There’s nothing special about the WD apps, and third party apps seem to be more reliable.
What ‘Dashboard app’? There isn’t a Dashboard app; the Dashboard is a web browser-based user interface, accessible by any web browser on your local network.
Have you downloaded and read the User Manual? Things may become a lot clearer, about what the device can do, and how to make it do those things.
Thanks, over the weekend I erased and restarted. Appears to be running well now.
