Firmware upgrade

Hi,

I have a WD TV Live Hub which I had bought 2+ yrs back. I have never upgraded the firmware. Recently I faced an issue where some of the new mp4/mkv files were playing with just the audio and I was not able to see any video. So then I realised I have never upgraded and found that there were many Codecs updates during the many upgrades that were available.

My current firmware: 2.02.19

Please advice if I can directly upgrade the firmware from 2.02.19 to the latest that is  3.12.13? Will I get all the codecs updates from the previously released firmwares with the  3.12.13?

Or I have to apply the upgrade firmware one by one from the lowest to the latest?

Appreciate your help and advice.

Thank you

There a no new Codecs (Decoders)  added … the problem is most probably your video files

One possible cause of sound but no picture is Bit Depth 10 bits (which isnt supported)

Thank you for your reply. I’ll check my video files.

I also want to know if I can directly apply the firmware upgrade to the latest  3.12.13 from the one I have which is 2.02.19

or should I have to apply one by one to the latest?

Thank you again!

It should be OK   (i havent read about any warnings)

But, it might take longer than usual for the Firmware update to complete (eg. maybe 10 - 20 mins)

If you decide to “do it” … i would recommend updating it via a freshly formatted FAT32 (2-4GIG) USB flashdrive.

ie. download the firmware on you PC extract the zip file contents onto a flashdrive

make sure in the WDTV Live Hub settings BEFORE you insert the flashdrive …
