Hi !
I’m trying to upgrade the firmware on my WDTV player.
The firmware that’s currently active on the player is: 1.01.02
I downloaded the current official release: 1.02.21
I copied the 1.02.21 firmware on a formatted in FAT32 USB Key, to the root directory (document “How to Install the Product Update.doc”);
as far as I read, the player should detect that there is a newer release and should show the “firmware upgrade icon”.
Nothing happens: I tried with different USB keys, but I couldn’t see that icon anywhere.
Can anyone give me a piece of advice or suggestions. I’m getting a bit crazy about that.

What’s the model# of your WDTV?
Also, does the USB light come on / flash?
If the USB light never comes on, then the WDTV isn’t recognizing the thumbdrive.
… also, it’s THREE SEPARATE FILES, right?
Um… if it’s for a Live, doesn’t the 1.01.77 _ HAVE _ to be installed before the 1.02.21 can be applied?
It was 1.01.17, and I know it did that with the INTERNET downloads, but I don’t think you had to do that for USB loads.

→ yes, definetively yes

→ yes: I put to the root the three different files I extracted from the download zip: the .BIN, .VER, and .FFF files

Ok, I typed it wrong… I knew something came up from the Internet as soon as I got my Live unboxed. I didn’t know that there weren’t the same pre-requisite conditions for USB 1.02.21 as there are for Internet 1.02.21. Now I know. 
That’s not a WDTV Live, so that firmware isn’t going to work.
I believe that’s a PAL version of the WDTV HD Media Player, so you’ll want to look HERE:

I’m gonna download it right away and try it.
