How do I know if “My Passport Ultra” needs a firmware update? Where do I look on the portable drive to know what is the current version? I don’t have anything backed up yet. My software is 2.4.6 which I updated that. Thanks.

The best way to know is to try it out. The Universal Firmware Updater will not proceed if your hard drive is already up-to-date.

Thanks for your answers. The drive is working perfectly so I decided not to do anything with it. I’ve had some bad experiences with my pc recently because of my audio drivers but that has been repaired now along with a new motherboard installed. But, with the Passport I have everything backed up on it and that’s a good feeling if I were to lose any important data. And thanks for your quick responses. It made me more confident in choosing Western Digital.
