hi… my firmware update is successful, then i tried to install wd software upgrader. but it’s unsuccessful with a system notification message sying please try again, error code 1603… can anyone help me with this please?
Error code 0x643 and error code 1603 are generic Windows update and Windows installer error codes. When these error codes are generated they imply that the update was not installed. These error codes generate when one of the following is true:
- .NET Framework installation is corrupt.
- MSI database is in an inconsistent state.
To resolve this issue, you need to remove all .NET Framework versions from your system and then reinstall them.
If your drive and Smartware are working without problems don’t bother with the firmware updates. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Besides the netframework I think that flash needs to be up to date also.
